Membership:
Types of Membership

The membership of the Association shall comprise the following:

    • Ordinary Members;
    • Honorary Members.
Ordinary Members
    • An ordinary member is any sole trader, group of persons or agency registered as such under any law, or a body corporate operating as a private employment agency.
    • To be eligible for ordinary membership, a private employment agency shall have been accredited or otherwise recognized by the relevant authorities.
    • A private employment agency seeking to become an ordinary member shall present a written application to the Chairperson or any other authorized person for consideration. The application shall include a written introduction by an ordinary member.
    • The application shall be presented to the members at the next general meeting of the Association for consideration, which shall, by a simple majority vote, determine admission to membership.
    • On admission, the new member shall be required to comply with the registration procedures and shall thereafter, pay the registration, subscription and any other fees as may from time to time, be determined by the Executive Committee and approved by the members.
    • Upon registration a member shall be bound by this Constitution and any other rules and regulations of the Association.
Honorary Members
  1. Honorary membership shall be conferred to any person or group of persons or agency registered under any law or any body corporate not operating as a private employment agency but who or which, in the view of the members of the Association, has given outstanding support or contribution to the Association or its members.  Such support and/or contribution may be in moral, material, financial or any other befitting form as determined by the members.
  2. Any fully subscribed member of the Association may propose the name of any person, group of persons or body corporate for consideration as an honorary member of the Association.
A decision on admission of an honorary member shall be by a simple majority of votes by the members at a general meeting.
Rights And Duties of Members
      1. The members of the Association shall have the right to:
  1. Take a full and active part in the discussion, formulation and implementation of the policies of the Association and in the conduct of its activities;
  2. Receive information on all aspects of Association;
  3. Inspect books of accounts and all documents of the Association at any reasonable time;
  4. Take part in elections and be elected or appointed to any committee, structure, commission or delegation of the Association.
      1. The members of the Association shall have the duty to:
  5. Take all necessary steps to understand and carry out the objects, policies and activities of the Association;
Observe discipline, behave honestly and carry out decisions of the majority and decisions of the Association.
Termination Of Membership
      1. A member may apply to resign from the Association by giving a one month notice in writing to the Chairperson or any other authorized person, which notice shall come into effect on the due date, provided that the member shall be required to perform any outstanding obligations prior to release from membership.
      2. Membership may be terminated by reason of:

a) Death;
b) Non-payment of subscription fees as stipulated;
c) Ceasing to carry on the business of private employment agency;
d) Expulsion;
provided always that termination of membership by reasons stated in paragraphs (b), (c) and (d) shall be preceded by notice to the member to show cause why the membership should not be terminated, an opportunity of the member to respond, and a decision of a general meeting of the Association.

        • The Executive Committee may suspend a member pending decision of the general meeting where termination is by reasons stated in paragraphs (b), (c) and (d).
